THE BIG BANG OF RENEWABLE CHEMISTRY
The commissioning of Verbio´s new ethenolysis plant marks the beginning of a new chapter in the industrial use of renewable raw materials. As the world’s first large-scale plant of its kind, it represents the next step toward more sustainable and, at the same time, competitive chemical production. Together with customers, partners, and collaborators, we are creating new opportunities for regional value creation, more resilient supply chains, and renewable carbon sources.
The new plant is expected to produce up to 60,000 metric tons of renewable specialty chemicals per year, thereby strengthening the supply of renewable raw materials to the chemical industry. These materials have a wide range of applications, including in high-performance lubricants, detergents and cleaning agents, and plastics.
Nobel Prize-winning chemist Prof. Dr. Richard Schrock will attend the opening as a special guest of honor. His scientific work in the field of olefin metathesis laid the foundation for the technology used today. Together with Verbio´s wholly-owned subsidiary XiMo, we have further developed this technology for the industrial production of bio-based specialty chemicals and scaled it up to industrial production.
This achievement is the result of close collaboration, scientific excellence, and entrepreneurial innovation. The Verbio life chemicals team looks forward to celebrating this special milestone together with our customers, partners, and companions along the way, and to shaping the next steps toward a more sustainable chemical value chain together.
