Human Nutrition

More and more consumers are looking for natural ingredients, certified quality, and health benefits when shopping for food. Verbio life chemicals supplies two functional raw materials for a more health-conscious diet, namely plant-based phytosterols and glycerin.

Our phytosterols come from non-GMO rapeseed oil and are sourced exclusively from a food supply chain. They are similar in structure to the body's cholesterol and can therefore have a targeted cholesterol-lowering effect in functional foods and dietary supplements. Glycerin is used as a moisturizing agent in luxury foods and sweeteners with a lower glycemic index, and additionally, as a technical processing aid.

Our products for the food industry

Phytosterols and glycerin are functional ingredients with clear nutritional benefits. Phytosterols are valued for their cholesterol-lowering effect, while glycerin is used as a moisture-binding agent and mild sweetener.

Ingredients

Phytosterols and glycerin make a vital contribution to the development of foods for a health-conscious diet. Phytosterols are specifically included in functional foods such as margarine, yoghurt, and bread due to their cholesterol-lowering properties. Glycerin is used in food processing as a versatile sweetener. It delivers a mild, pleasant taste, enhances the mouthfeel, and can extend the shelf life of products.

Additive

In the food and beverage industry, glycerin serves as E422 in a variety of functions. In addition to its use as a humectant, glycerin can act as an adhesion enhancer and plasticizer in various coatings, or it can be used as a solvent or carrier for flavors, colors, and antioxidants.

Dietary supplement

Sterocellent® from Verbio is a plant-based phytosterol. Phytosterols are specifically included in dietary supplements because of their cholesterol-lowering effect.

Humectant

Glycerin is a proven humectant additive in the food industry.
It binds water and thus ensures an even consistency, longer-lasting freshness, and a pleasant texture. Glycerin is used in particular in baked goods, wine gums, and cocoa products, where it can extend shelf life, improve texture, and thus provide a more pleasant mouthfeel.
