The products supplied by our subsidiary XiMo allow Verbio life chemicals to bring a highly specialized portfolio of molybdenum, tungsten, and ruthenium-based olefin metathesis catalysts to the market.
XiMo catalysts are ideally suited for industrial applications, facilitating selective and efficient reactions in fine chemicals, oleochemicals, polymer production, agrochemicals, fragrance synthesis, and other specialty markets. As part of the Verbio Group, XiMo supplements the plant-based raw materials marketed by the parent company with yet another key component for modern synthesis processes.
Our subsidiary XiMo
XiMo Hungary Kft is an innovative subsidiary of Verbio SE specializing in the development and application of metathesis catalysts. The molybdenum-based, tungsten-based, and ruthenium catalysts stem from the scientific work of the two co-founders, Prof. Amir H. Hoveyda (Boston College) and Prof. Richard R. Schrock (MIT). Prof. Richard R. Schrock (MIT), together with his colleagues Yves Chauvin and Robert H. Grubbs, were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2005 for their findings.
The company was founded in 2010 and operates its research facilities in the Berlini Park in Budapest, one of Hungary's leading science parks. Today, XiMo has access to more than 1,200 different catalysts, making it one of the world's leading libraries of Mo, W, and Ru (molybdenum, tungsten, and ruthenium) metathesis catalysts.
In its proprietary XiMoPac technology, the company has also developed a user-friendly solution for safely handling sensitive catalysts in the form of stable paraffin tablets outside of gloveboxes. This solution is particularly suitable for reliable experimental use in laboratories and pilot plants.
